AIM OF THE ASIA JUSTICE COALITION
The aim of the Asia Justice Coalition is to ensure responsibility, justice and accountability for grave crimes in Asia, and to strengthen and mobilize Asian civil society actors, human rights organizations, legal actors and their allies in order to:
-
Collectively advocate and build skills and capacity with local actors on international accountability for serious violations of international human rights and humanitarian law committed in Asia.
-
Build the capacity of Asian organizations to pursue justice and accountability.
With the aim of accountability, the range of options encompasses national, regional and international mechanisms. A significant challenge is the low engagement in Asia in general relating to international justice, and this is also an underlying basis for the coalition. It is in this context and backdrop on the basis of which strategic activities are undertaken by the coalition.
The Asia Justice Coalition is gaining momentum since its conception in 2018, and is becoming an effective coordination, policy and advocacy network.
